Crucifixion and Resurrection All At Once--Trinity Episcopal Church--Greeley, CO

This statue of Jesus almost flies off of the side of the church building. Pull your car over and be transfixed by what this artist has communicated. It's not just crucifixion and death. It's not just resurrection and life. Yes, technically Jesus was resurrected from a tomb. Maybe this is about Christ's ability to bail on his mission at any moment. Jesus instead chose to surrender himself to shame and humiliation for people like you and me. For people like us.

Matthew 26:52-54
New International Version (NIV)
52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”
